Vice President JD Vance Visits Hatch Stamping: A Celebration of American Manufacturing
Hatch Stamping Company was honored to welcome Vice President JD Vance for his first visit to Michigan since taking office. The event underscored the importance of American manufacturing and highlighted the vital role that companies like Hatch play in supporting jobs, supply chains, and local communities.
A Historic Day for Hatch
The visit was the result of several days of careful preparation by the Hatch team, ensuring that the facility was ready to host the Vice President, the Secret Service, and distinguished guests.
For employees, it was an experience of a lifetime. As President Dan Craig noted, the visit was a chance to showcase Hatch’s story—from its founding in 1952 in a basement in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to its growth into a global supplier.
Vice President Vance’s Message
The Vice President’s remarks focused on keeping manufacturing strong in Michigan and across the U.S. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to:
- Supporting American auto suppliers with policies to stay competitive against foreign markets.
- Investing in apprenticeships and workforce development to prepare the next generation of skilled workers.
- Extending the 2017 tax cuts and expanding benefits for working families, including no tax on overtime and tips.
Vance was joined by Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Congressman Tom Barrett, both of whom echoed the call for more apprenticeship programs and greater investment in American workers.
Celebrating Manufacturing and Workers
For Hatch employees, the day was a recognition of their work and contribution. As Marketing Director Suzanne Morrison shared, the team was “energized, positive, and proud” to see manufacturing celebrated at a national level.
The administration’s focus on small and mid-sized manufacturers resonated deeply. As Morrison emphasized, “small to midsize manufacturers are the heartbeat of our country.”
Looking Ahead
While one visit cannot solve every challenge facing the industry, Hatch leadership was encouraged by the administration’s willingness to listen. By hearing the real stories from local manufacturers, federal leaders gain a clearer understanding of both the opportunities and hurdles in keeping American manufacturing strong.
As Hatch continues its mission of innovation and excellence, moments like these reinforce the company’s role as not only a supplier but also a symbol of American resilience and success.
